Content Marketing – Do You Have a Blog?

Is your fan base packed full of fans that stay engaged and genuinely LOVE your business?

Many question the purpose and the overall effectiveness of a blog, especially when it comes to blogging for businesses.

My inspiration for this post came from the overwhelming and almost perfect display of social marketing I have noticed from a red gas station from central PA where you can fill up on gas, get your car washed, buy a burger, and a shweetz for dessert.

Sheetz

If you haven’t, I’d recommend you to take a look at their presence on Facebook, Twitter and even YouTube. This company is active everyday on social AND their followers are unbelievably engaged. Their presence is authentic and fun. With their following well over 1 million they are currently in a position that content marketers dream of. Thankfully, just this past month the company has implemented a blog which I am sure will take off in the months to come.

So the question is, do you have a blog?

Although your business may not be in this ideal position, presence of businesses on social and other digital forms of marketing is expanding.

According to the 2012 Digital Content Marketing Survey conducting by Brandpoint and the Content Marketing Institute  social is the most effective form of digital marketing at 90% with blogging in second at 75%.

Although we all wish that our business was as perfect on social as the one that is described above, blogging may take you a step closer to that. Whether you are using blogging to compliment your customers digital experience, or to tie all your social media together, if done properly it works!

Over the years we have seen how marketing and promotional tactics have evolved, just think of this as one more piece to that puzzle.

Blogging allows you to better display your brand’s voice. If you do have other forms of social, blogging assists in your credibility by keeping your voice consistent. It also allows for you customers to become involved and stayed engaged in all new ways. This consistency and extra presence also increase your brand’s SEO rankings, which can help your business gain digital presence.

With strong content, engaged communication and enthusiasm for your brand, teaming your social up with a  blog can really turn into a content marketing powerhouse.
